Winter light dwindles to a pale sunset.
Sycamore bark peels in patches.
Ever on sentry duty, an eye on the horizon,
Glowing like a desert landscape,
The silent tree watches for
Spring, as winter melts away.

Sorry, I meant silent tree, not sure what a ‘salient’ tree is, I’ll have to look that up -haha!!! 😀

LOL I thought you meant sentient. 🙂

Love the idea of the salient tree waiting, watching for spring. Poor things, they are forced to be patient, we could probably learn so much from trees! 🙂

Yes, they know much more about weather than we do. They don’t bud up until spring is really near. Thanks for commenting!

I LOVE sycamores–they are magic trees. If you’d like to read about a special one, go to Gretchenkwing.wordpress.com and search “sycamore.” Thanks for this lovely tribute to a queen of trees!

Indeed not. Until he’s carried away, trumpets blaring. (Or were those chainsaws?)

Tell me some of that snow has melted… We are drying up here and you folks can’t seem to give it away…

Yes, we just got used to some spring weather and then this last week, winter returned briefly. I just got coats washed and put in the closet! Have a great week. 🙂

I’m VERY grateful for that. I have a friend in Quebec too. I can’t imagine living through what all of you have experienced this winter.
