Sycamore at Sunset

Sycamore tree, winter sunset

Winter light dwindles to a pale sunset.
Sycamore bark peels in patches.
Ever on sentry duty, an eye on the horizon,
Glowing like a desert landscape,
The silent tree watches for
Spring, as winter melts away.

  2. I LOVE sycamores–they are magic trees. If you’d like to read about a special one, go to Gretchenkwing.wordpress.com and search “sycamore.” Thanks for this lovely tribute to a queen of trees!
