Snow
Flakes fall
On Rhodie,
Making leaves droop.
Pulse slows, goes dormant,
Warm heart retreats in,
Waiting for summer thaw.
Sees children building snowmen:
Hears laughter bloom like spring time.
Small girl shrieks as boots fill with snow.
An icy silence falls as doors slam.
The snowman’s crooked smile: winter joy.

Your winter photos make me shiver. Although I think our cool summer, to date, has been wonderful.

I wanted snow, but we got 42 inches in a week. Um, can’t I just get 10 inches? Wouldn’t that have been enough? I wasn’t trying to be greedy. LOL

Thanks, Aquileana. I hope to remember these days after my kids grow up. The snow days are rare, but such good memories. 🙂

It is beautiful, indeed… It never snows here! Unless you travel to the south of the Country!… Best wishes Aquileana 😀

No snow at all? Wow. I have lived in snowy lands most of my life. Perhaps I have been crazy this whole time. LOL

Did you? We have another foot forecast for tomorrow, and our snow thrower is broken! My poor hubby! Luckily our two boys have become very accomplished at shoveling. 🙂

Hi Brenda! I particularly like all the “s” sounds in the second half of the poem, “shrieks as boots fill with snow,” and the crooked smile. Very vivid and evocative!

Thanks! We had a great time making a showgirl, and I’d like to remember it, when I’m shoveling a foot of snow tomorrow. 🙂

I made a snow angel yesterday. Today the snow filled it in again. I know it’s there, though. 🙂

we have a beautiful song in Norway about Snow Angels, how they fly up to heaven with little messages from the ones who made them 🙂
