Snow in the air,
Snow on the ground,
More in my hair,
Falls all around!
Snowballs packed tight,
Kids laughing and hiding,
Forts left, ice castles right
Tiny tots slipping and sliding.
Tongue sticks out far,
Nothing hits it, no fair!
A snowflake, like a star,
Lands coldly right there.
Ah, how we love the snow,
Sledding, flopping, tromping,
Love when the drifts flow,
Plowing, tunneling, stomping.

So the snow arrived eventually? Your little ones must be excited! Got caught in some snow shopping for shoes the other day. Lots of big flakes of snow, but I was so relieved the pavements were wet, no chance of it settling. When I was little I would have disappointed with my adult thinking! 😉

LOL I remember loving the snow. I only love it for my kids’ sake now. They had such fun with it.

Yes we take our 4 year old granddaughter sleighing 🙂 she loves it.

Is sleighing plunging downhill on a toboggan, what we call sledding? Or is it riding a sleigh pulled by a horse? My kids love to sled, but have never been in a sleigh, and probably never will.

Tobogganing 🙂 down hill and that’s what I meant LOL.. Sledging 🙂 I did go on a fantastic but Very cold sleigh ride pulled by two horses one Christmas we treated ourselves in Austria.. An experience I will always remember as being wonderful through the snowy woods 🙂 Never say never…. I never thought I would experience it either.. But at minus 15 C below it was cold..

Ah, isn’t it lovely we all speak the same language, but with these delicious, gourmet dialects forming? 🙂 Your sleigh ride sounds amazing, but I hope you had a lot of warm blankets and a hot drink, too.

Your snow is really beautiful…… but I’m glad to have our record setting temperatures. It was in the low 60’s during that time!

It is. And it made it so much easier to return from India. That kind of cold would be so jolting after having adjusted to India’s heat.

I do wonder at my sanity for living in the Northeast and enduring the cold, but it does have many good qualities. 🙂 And my kids love the snow days.

I have a friend in Quebec that is dealing with -20 temperatures (-40 with wind chill). I can’t imagine living in that.

Sounds lovely. Seattle was beautiful when I visited. I have such good luck when I travel, and the sun shone on Pike’s Market when I was there. What a delightful place.

such a delightful poem, Brenda. you made me feel the winter energy and youthful happiness that blow in with a snow blitz. it’s good to think like kids because most look forward to the snow play but adults are like, “OMG, let me go out and empty all the store shelves for supplies!!!!!” cheers!
LikeLike
Well, I had to shop, too. LOL The shops were mobbed and shelves did empty out. We tried a snowman, but the snow is loose and not packable. Oh, well. Sledding next. 🙂

Brenda, this is so lovely and fun. My daughter is hoping for snow. So far all we have is snowdrop flowers peeking out of our lawn.

We have two – three feet predicted and high winds. I am hoping for sledding, but it may be too much for that. 🙂 Fingers crossed, though.

Awesome Brenda – I felt like I was jumping around and having a good ole time in the snow.

It was fun to finally get a few inches. I have the opposite feeling about the 3 feet predicted tonight and tomorrow. 🙂

Yes, indeed, maybe too much. LOL We’re never satisfied. I just hope we have heat. The pipes will freeze and burst if we lose heat.

For you, I tried hard to finish it and get it up. Snow is hard to photograph. It seems to go flat in my camera so readily. Your Summer at Sea poem is lovely. I would love to have a summer like you describe with my kids.
