Visual Haiku: Shadow Painting

Shadows on Bark, Japanese Ink Painting

Note: A visual haiku is a photograph that implies the presence of something not there. Here the shadows reminded me of Japanese Brush Painting, making the bark a canvas. Can you guess what made the shadows? For other visual haiku, click here and here.

    • LOL I think a lot of people read the note on this one. My brain doesn’t work in straight lines. 🙂 I’m glad you are interested despite that. Cheers, Brenda

  5. It’s a beauty. I was going to say cherry blossom, like one of your other followers, but I see it is the magnolia that made the shadows. How lovely that there are visual haikus.

    • I had the idea a while back, and I was so excited!! Then I google’d and discovered that I was not the first to think of it after all. I deflated like a balloon. I searched the tag today when I posted, and no one else is posting with that tag that I saw. So I believe I’m the first on WP to give it a whirl. I think it’s a cool way of looking at the world, to look for what is there, and for what is not. 🙂

  6. Oh, Brenda! Now you have really inspired me! “implies the presence of something not there” that line is magic! My creativity and imagination is on fire now, like flames in dry grass. visual poetry……I must do something about this now….I need to save this post for further inspiration. Oh, this is a treasure hunt! It is like you have made me a poetic egg hunt, only I will not be finding actual eggs, but something far more exciting! Thank you Brenda for always inspiring me!!

    • Line,

You have always been on this hunt. The spiritual is always finding meaning in mystery, locating that which is not seen.

Let me know if you create a visual haiku. I would love to see it!! Hugs, Brenda

  7. I can definitely see the art and canvass. I’m not sure. It looks to me, maybe Cherry Blossom branches was the paint on the canvass.
Also, Thank you for all your support. Brenda!! 🙂 It really means a great deal to me. Many Blessings My Friend 🙂

    • One of my horticulturist followers nailed it — magnolia. 🙂

I had a fun romp on your blog. I miss so much in my reader and some of my likes vanish. It’s a mystery. I do try hard to drop by and catch up, and it’s fun! How lucky that I love this stuff?! Blessings to you, too! Brenda

      • Oh okay, Magnolia. I bet it was gorgeous too!! Those trees smell so good. It’s all good!! I know how it is… It’s never seems to be enough hours in the day. But I greatly appreciate you. I’m so glad you enjoyed my posts. I have to tell you, I’m catching up too My Friend. I count it a Honor every time I read from all of these awesome blogs. I hope they are able to get the vanishing like issue fixed. I know I’ve run into it also. Many Blessings From Alisha
