A lovely blogger named Line at Paths of the Spirit wrote this beautiful poem in honor of my daughter’s fifth birthday, and gave it to her as a gift. How sweet is that? I painted a tiny fairy for it and put them together here for all fairy tale lovers who also want to be fairies:
I want to be a fairy
Beautiful and wee
I want to fly with fairy wings
And live inside a tree
I want to be a fairy
Beautiful and wee
I want to play with fairy things
And sleep inside a leaf
I want to be a fairy
Beautiful and wee
I want to eat the fairies’ cakes
And drink the fairies’ tea
I want to be a fairy
Beautiful and wee
I want to have some fairy friends
Who’ll come and play with me
I want to be a fairy
Beautiful and wee
But I am just a little girl
With lots of fairy dreams
Thank you, Line, you are an angel! Warmly, Brenda
Here is my wish to your daughter, a few lines from me.
Being a fairy is so sweet
Would you accept me as one
I accept all conditions to be a fairy
If it was so beautiful to be one
I would have wished not to grow older
The happiness that you derive
Splendidly amazing
Please welcome me into your fold
I make you sleep well be well
Do not make me jealous as it is not in my being
Oh ! My Fairy!!!
Fondest Regards to YOU
Shiva

Happy belated fifth birthday, so sorry I missed your special occasion. I would have loved seeing you all decked out as a very pink fairy! Smiles and hugs, from your distant aunt or cousin, your mom’s sister, in our imagination, Robin

My daughter was a very pink fairy. 🙂 Alas, she is much prettier than my skill at painting could manage. My daughter loved the poem and took it for granted that someone would write her a cool poem, since I am always doing that for her. I know how special it is, though, and I appreciate Line very much.

I love Line, too. My daughter is pretty darn awesome. She told me she loves the whole world and everybody in it. I told her she has a big heart, and she said her heart is so big it fills up her whole body, from her toes to the top of her head. Thanks for your good wishes for her. She and I painted today, and it was very fun. Hugs, Brenda

I hope it survives public school. Alas that seems unlikely, and yet, she always looks on the bright side and cheers up those around her, so perhaps she will make public school better for all the others. Hard to say how it will go. We all love her here, though. 🙂 Thanks for your kind words. Warmly, Brenda
