Walking here is a trick
When sidewalk ice is slick.
Slip, slide, don’t move feet,
Ice be gone, meet sun’s heat.
Crick, crack, save my back!
Shine sun, don’t be slack.
I forgot something, you say?
Salt! That will save the day!

I am enjoying your ‘merry’ ice be gone spell. Have you got one for rain? We’ve have had enough already.

I was hoping for a “wave my magic wand and make it so” kinda deal – but salt works wonders too 🙂
Enjoyed the poem. Am so over winter.

I have a broad practical streak, and it made my son laugh. What can I say. Making my kids laugh makes me happy. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed it. Am also really over winter, and wishing daily for spring.

Robin, My son wanted it to end on, oh, yeah salt! It made him crack up, so I honored his wish. Ksbeth told me that it was too cold for salt to work in her area. It boggled my mind until I looked at my driveway, and sure enough, the salt is just sitting there on the ice doing not much, it’s too thick!! Today the sun was trying to get through, but too many low clouds were blocking it. A thaw is coming, though, I just know it. I hope you noticed that my new post, In-Between has a robin in it. 😉 Hugs, Brenda

Bill, Thanks, so far, so good. The expected 6 inches of snow was reduced to half an inch, and even that didn’t show up. Potential thaw by the weekend! Fingers crossed. Hugs, Brenda

You’ll need some amount of salt by the looks of things. It does seem to have been a long time that you’ve had so much freezing weather. I do hate ice. It makes everything you try to do take so much longer, Even those little things …..like walking. Feeling like a toddler all over again. 😉 Love the spell. Might need to request one for here to hurry on spring. Although our conditions are nothing like yours. Hope it clears for you soon. x

Some winters we use almost none. But this winter was a doozy. The kids have a whole network of interconnecting tunnels in the backyard. I expect they will remember the fun of that the rest of their lives. 🙂
