Conjure me a warm day;
Bend holly into a wreath.
Leave trinkets where they lay,
Intertwine grasses from the heath.
Weave in some dried lavender,
Intersperse some winter berries,
Neglect not magical provender,
Add a curl of thyme for the fairies.
In the gloaming, carry it nigh.
“With some warmth, you’ll be blessed,”
Spake the White Witch’s soft sigh.
“I take with joy these things for my nest.”

This says *winter* to me-red berries, green leaves and plenty of white snow-a lovely image Brenda!

Yes, me, too. I wondered if I would be able to write fairy tales in winter, but so far, they are still flowing. 🙂

Ah, you clever botanist! I never managed to take the woody class, but I did take the flowers horticulture class. One of my favorites, looking back, but overwhelming at the time.

Glad you think so. I had a great time writing it, it was so much easier than a sonnet. LOL I don’t know why I enjoy torturing myself with all this rhyming, but I do.

White she is this day…but alas the sun shines through the bitter cold.
A few years back I had several unpleasant conversations about how haiku should be interpreted. I however like that haiku allows us to mold it to our liking – and I like this – I can imagine that bathhouse, with a little crescent moon carved in the door…
Have you seen this new haibun prompt site? My contribution is here:
