Awarded Blog of the Year Among Other Blessings!!

I never imagined the response I have gotten to my fairy tales, here on Friendly Fairy Tales. I originally put up stories for family to be able to read them without my providing everyone copies. (I have a BIG family.)

The warmth of community I have found has been a fairy tale come true for me. I love all the comments. I love hearing that others love fairy tales, and even more, that others love my stories. And all the awards make me happy, more on that below…

Thanks to everyone who visits, who likes, who comments or even just enjoys my stories, my photographs and my poetry. For all of you, I have made an underwater visual fairy tale (a new video!!), called Fairy Fish Tails, which has an original score composed by my oldest son.

The video was a long time in the works, and as a result, I have been slow to pass along thanks for awards, but here goes:

Thanks to Diana Jackson of Selections of Reflections, who increased my blessings with a new award. If you don’t know Diana, she is a terrific writer of historical romantic fiction, and has been sharing a memoir of an amazing man who was 103 when she started. The award is called: “Award Winning Blog — has been Blessed Again.” Visit Diana for fun or to copy the rules.

Then Marlyn at Kintal blessed me with the same award again, thanks Marlyn! If you don’t know her, you should check her out. She has great art and poetry.

Award Winning Blog Has Been Blessed Again

And Marlyn was not done, but stopped by to give me the Dragon’s Loyalty Award, too! She is fabulous!! Thanks, Marlyn!

Salvatore Vionito at Freedom of the Heart nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award and thanked me for my inspiration and support. He is inspirational as well, full of love and with all the warmth and steadiness of his poetic heart. I will, from here on out, envision him dozing on a couch, vibrating cat on his chest, with thoughts of poetry and pasta.

Thanks to PetiteMagique for nominating me for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award, a new one to me. And for calling me her fairytale sister, what a lovely thought, my Magical Sister!! Visit her if you can’t get enough of magic, like me. 🙂 Then Morgan came along and joined my Sisterhood, nominating me again!! If you don’t know Morgan, she writes great sonnets, poetry and lately has gotten into music humor. Next Gloriana blessed me by making me part of her beautiful sisterhood. She has wonderful photos, poetry and stories of her travels. Thanks Sisters!

Sisterhood of the world blogger award

Petrel41 blessed Friendly Fairy Tales with a nomination for Blog of the Year 2013. Thanks Petrel41, I love your animal posts!! Petitemagique then came along and gave me another nomination, my magical sister. Then Morgan at Booknvolume, a great, prolific writer and music lover. Then Sweetness6645 at Public TransitUser nominated me again, thanks to a woman with photos of the world on a subway, check her out, she’s awesome. Woo-hoo! What an honor!

Since you get one star, up to 6 total, for each nomination, that is four stars for Friendly Fairy Tales!! Woo-hoo! If you want to see the rules laid out perfectly or say hello to the originator of the Blog of the Year Awards, pop over to The Thought Palette. There you can also grab the appropriate icon with the right number of stars for you. You can also find the link to the Facebook page, which you can join and publish to even more people.

Thanks to Katya Mills at Vitamin K for nominating me for the Liebster Award with this very cool award button. She is a very talented author with a couple of published books that are on my read soon list, and I hope you will visit her.

Answering Katya’s Liebster Questions:
What’s your least favorite thing about blogging? Not having enough time to do/read everything I want.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? Usually my daughter or the sun shining.
Any thoughts about feelings? Plenty; as a writer, my thoughts all go into my writing, so my readers know them.
Why did you decide to blog? People kept asking me for copies of stories, and printing was getting expensive.
Any feelings about thoughts? I try hard to encourage my good thoughts and discourage the bad.
What is your favorite ritual? Opening presents with my kids Christmas morning.
Your least favorite ritual? Cleaning the bathroom toilet.
What sign are you, does it mean anything? Taurus, and I’m bull-headed?
Has blogging enriched your life? How? See first paragraph above…
If you had to go to Mars, who would you go with? My family and my laptop.
What can you do to treat yourself, 4 doing this? This is already a treat.
Now I know I am glossing over the rules, playing fast and loose with providing information, but if I tried to follow all the rules, I would end up overwhelmed and choosing to be an award-free blog, which would lessen the magic for me. I am not in this for as many links as I can make to optimize my search engine, which sounds very techie and mystical at the same time (what does it even mean?!). Rather, I am in this to share the love with my fellow hardworking bloggers, who all deserve some love!! For the above 12 awards, I could nominate 15 bloggers each. Anyone good at math? Yes, that’s 180 bloggers. (Much as I love you all, I don’t have time to do that, so if you covet an award, pop me an email, and I will speak to your fairy godmother.)
Meanwhile, here are my nominations, wish I had time for all 180:
For the Award Winning Blog has been Blessed Again, I’m nominating:
For the Dragon’s Loyalty Award, I’m nominating:
For the Versatile Blogger Award:
For the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award:
My New Zealand Sister, Wildersoul
My Philippine Sister who teaches in China, Donicia
My Magical English Sister, LavenderMoonGirl
My Magical Seattle Sister, SerendipityHerbals
Sister of my Heart, Reocohran
My Fairy Loving Sister, Willow
My Chicken Loving Sister, HitandRun
My Garden Loving Sister, Beckarooney
Blog of the Year 2013 (one star because they came to me one at a time):
The Liebster Award:

Please accept my appreciation if you cannot take time to accept the award.

I wish all my readers many blessings, adventures, good health and a little magic. Here are a couple views from my part of the world to thank you for sharing yours:

    • The awards made me very happy, and the posts about them helped me grow my friend-circle. I’m still friends with many who nominated me or who I nominated. The posts would take hours to do even tweaking the rules as I did. I just don’t have that kind of time these days, but I remember doing them fondly. Take care.

  7. That video is so good, relaxing too. You are very good at this video thing! 🙂 And did you say the music was ‘composed’ by your son? That’s quite an achievement, you must be very proud of him! That’s handy to have someone create the music to your video – you can get better than that! 😀

Congratulations on building your blog to what it is today, you’ve come a long way from just posting for family – and the sky is the limit, remember! 😉

    • You are a charmer. I enjoy the videos, but they are time consuming. My son is very talented at 12, he played around with a couple melodies, settled in his mind what he wanted to play when, and just improvised the whole thing. It’s a bit casual, but fun, too. And he wanted to enter a composition contest and needed a video… This may work as an entry but we have to check with his violin teacher. I am insufferably proud of him. 🙂

I have a novel burning up in the back of my mind I want to write. I need to find a way to work on that and blog too.

Thanks for your kind words. I started this at the end of February 2013. I have never blogged during the holiday season before. We’ll see if I lose my mind along the way. 🙂

      • Oh, yes that’s a lot of pressure! I started my blog in November last year, so I was really doing a lot at the time, and I did feel only half present at all the family events, hopefully not like that this year. Best thing is not to post too much, it’s a busy time of year for everyone, so no-one will mind!

Mm.. finding the time for that novel is a tricky one, but if it’s important and drives you crazy not getting down to it, I’m sure you’ll find the best way for you in the end. Everyone seems to writing novels – so exciting these days!! 😀

        • Yes, indeed. I have an outline for a book two, with the book one being written. And I am working on an outline for an unrelated book. Plus stories and poems. Winter is a good time to write, if I can manage the blog and family, too. It will come, it keeps perking up.

  8. I am incredibly honored by your naming me for two honorariums! I am thankful for your continued friendship and support. I am working on my rather simplified response to this outstanding post that features your creative self and your son’s lovely musical accompaniment! I especially like the title of “Sister of my Heart!” Thanks very much, Brenda!!

    • I am pleased you are happy, Sister. 🙂 I’m tiring out early this evening. Trying to write a haibun with my children practicing their music was surprisingly draining. Bed early, I think. Warmly, Brenda

    • That’s because I don’t restate the rules these days — the posts would be too long. You pull the icon onto your site, and google for the rules. Another site will tell you, surely someone will have listed the rules associated with the award. Or post your thanks with the icon and pass it along like I did in a free and easy, rule-less way.

Truly, there is magic all around isn’t there. I can see it in the photos you took. Happy Monday! 🙂

      • Thanks Brenda . . . you do know how I feel! I like the idea of being a dragon, but I don’t even know that award.

You do love the awards and earn them with grace Award Queen. It is great that you have them all! Nice when things work out well!

        • Elephant, You are an honorary Dragon, even though you need not do anything except give a nod. 🙂 I do have rather a lot. I need a different way to display them, they make my sidebar too long. I’ve stopped putting them up. Ah, well, it’s not a bad problem to have, too many awards. LOL
          Have a great week, Brenda

          • Dear Brenda,

Thank you, I will be a Dragon in spirit and I appreciate the honor!

My suggestion – make a grid (the cornerstone of simplicity) and drop the award images into the grid. Then add the image of the grid into your post. Four across and three high would give you 12 awards in one image!

I like it that you enjoy the awards and I think you should really go to town with showing all of them – so shrink them down in an interesting way. You are the Queen of Awards and everyone likes to see what the Queen has going on!

            I like my grid idea!

            • I like your grid idea, too, Elephant. I have seen others do grids for awards, but I don’t know how to do that. I will investigate. 🙂 Maybe powerpoint would work? I will reflect. Dragons fly up high, nose into the wind, fire in the belly. What a grand life you shall have in spirit. 🙂 Warmly, Brenda
