‘Limbs catch stars like fire flies’ I love that line!♥ And I guess that’s the tree at night? I’ve always adored trees with lights on, nothing more magical at night time, than a tree all lit up! If only they came naturally with lights – can you imagine a whole forest aglow, with tree lights!! 😀
Brenda, that’s a great tree, so seasonal. It is exactly what my wife wanted when we lived in Northern Virginia. I never quite got it right. The pictures clearly show it being done right. Thanks, Bill
True, scientifically proven. They say it´s good for the body and mind to take a nap every day, and taking a nap means not doing anything being lazy. Not me saying it, some smart guy from Harvard. Do they pay these people to study the effects of napping? I want that job.
Some feel the syllable count is too strict. The haiku was Japanese, and probably had more to do with characters not syllables. I think the three lines is pretty common, though.
I like how the limited word count is forcing my writing into shorter lines with more careful word choice. Not only is Haiku beautiful itself, but the process of writing it has improved my writing (I hope). 🙂 Each word gets to shine.
Why not give it a whirl? They are meant to be nature-oriented and two separate images united and enhanced by a third image, is what I have read, but plenty of people break those rules. 🙂
Lovely picture

I’d rather be in the study, and part of the proof that a daily nap improves my health. 🙂

Thats the kind of tree which the Vampire Bat loves 😀
Btw, I have studied that Haiku has 3 lines & 17 syllables. Is that mandatory?

I never get to read Haiku outside the blogging world. Not really a followed style of poetry here 🙂

Let see. Our most usual concept of poems is like having four lines which form a paragraph! 😀 I don’t write any poetry though 🙂
