My Cup Runneth Over

I have received showers of blessings. Friendlyfairytales has received so many lovely comments, praise, support and attention, that awards seem like icing. Of course, I’ve always liked icing. :-)

The rules are partly about sharing yourself. I’m sharing something very personal today.

The Psalms were some of the earliest spoken poetry I ever remember hearing. My beloved mother passed away when I was four years old. Perhaps my imagination provided me this, but if I have any memories of her voice left, it would be of her saying these words, giving me an abiding love of poetry and also a sense of security beyond my own family:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul…

My current quest for combining poetry, nature and stories harkens back to those early, peaceful memories of safety. In the spirit of thankfulness for blessings, past and present, I want to, yet again, share a brand new movie (my third ever!! I hope they are improving!!), made by my kids and I, called Water of Life:

Thanks to the Mobius Strip for the Super Sweet Blogging Award. Dreamwalkeramrita is a great artist and writer, and her blog is worth a visit.

Thanks to White Rabbit’s Gallery and The Mother of Nine9 for a new Sunshine Award. Both of these bloggers add sunshine to my life, and would add sunshine to yours, too!

Thanks to Reocochran for gifting friendlyfairytales a whole bouquet of awards from which I could choose, and she told a lovely story about the bouquet she carried at her first wedding. Since I already have received all these awards, instead of gathering up those tokens, in her honor, I’ve made this acceptance token:

Bouquet

Thanks to Ajaytao, who visited me with a Super-Sized Award Portion, and I’ll put the icons up because they are new to me!! Many bloggers already know Ajaytao, but if you don’t, you are in for a real treat. He has a loving, wise vibe surrounded always by beauty in thought and nature.

Notes on Awards: Liebster means dearest in German, and this is given to newer bloggers. Semper Fidelis means always faithful in latin and represents fidelity and love between blogging friends. The others are pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks to Terry1954, whose goodness shines through in every post, during the good days and the bad, while caring for her brother Al. I’m honored to receive an award she has created, the Excellence Award:

If I follow all the rules, I would be posting awards, sometimes several a day, and I would have no time for writing and creating, and soon I would be sad, and getting awards would feel burdensome. Plus I would bore all of you with the minutiae of my life answering all the questions. I do want to share the love with other great bloggers who have given generously to me of time and attention, and who daily make my cup runneth over with joy and love. If I haven’t named you, it is simply dinner time and I ran out of time. I also can’t name over 600!!

To all the lovely and talented bloggers nominated below, I give any awards they have not received above, and I also give my own created award, the You are a Miracle Award, because you are! To me, you have been the most amazing, encouraging and talented community. I could not have imagined a better world to join.

If you maintain an award-free blog, don’t feel any regrets, this is just my wish to share the love with you. No obligations need accrue, no dire events follow from not accepting. Please do share the love with others if that is your way. And have the loveliest of lovely days!

A few flowers from my wanderings to thank all my readers, near and far:

  1. Congratulations Brenda, and what a lovely, heart warming post. My kids and I absolutely loved the video! Very well done to you and yours and so lovely you are able to create beautiful things together. Many beautiful blessings on your day lovely lady :)

  2. I love coming back to this post, seeing your lovely token of appreciation and made for me award nomination! I love the Bouquet of Awards Symphony of Color since it meant about my bouquets at my first wedding. I am grateful for your gift of this and visit this often!

  3. When I was a kid the Bible disturbed me, but when I really read it as an adult I realized that my fear was unfounded and that I’d deprived myself of the greatest inspiration I could ever have. I love when people are so open about their faith. Also love people who love fairy tales and happy endings.

  4. Congratulations on all of your awards! I loved the video you made with your children. I also loved your comment about dedicating the video to your mom. =)

I’m late getting around to saying “thank you” for nominating my blog, and want to say it was a very pleasant surprise.

    Thanks and hugs,
    Lindy

    • You know I’m tempted daily to do the same. Then an idea occurs to me for a new award theme or a new video… Gives me a giggle. You shouldn’t do it unless you want to, though. I’m trying to make each award posting heartfelt or funny or both. Cheers, Brenda

  6. Hi Brenda,

I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to start going through the awards on my blog on Monday, as I am spending time this weekend restructuring my blog content. I’m sure you’ve done it before but it is very time consuming but well worth it. Again, I cannot express to you how happy you made me and clearly some of the other bloggers that have commented here. You have a wonderful energy about you :-)

    Thanks again, love :-)

    Love, Peace, and Happiness,

    Laurali Star

  7. A job well done! :)
Thank you for explaining the reasons for the awards and how to go about it. I am in the same predicament right now but as you know I want to share the gift to as many bloggers as possible. I may procrastinate writing award posts but I will write them finally. :)
Much appreciated for the new awards. I do not know which to choose except the sunshine award which is my favorite. :)
    Thanks again for the thought.

  8. NOW I understand more about you…and I understand why you’re able to understand so much about the others…..
However, the post is just beautiful!! The beauty of simlicity….
    Have a wonderful day, Brenda!
    Warmly, Luana

    • I had a hard childhood, but I have built a beautiful life for myself. I’m the phoenix, reborn. I understand the pain and sadness of others, and I’m unafraid to say so. I think it helps other to feel not so alone. And me as well. Thanks, Luana, you are a beautiful person! Have a terrific weekend. I love that you used “Warmly!” Affectionately, Brenda

  9. Just a final thought, the words Bouquet of Awards and Symphony of Color were so appropriate and sentimental to me, too. I will cherish this moment in time, thank you!

    • Feel free to borrow it and use it on your site if it makes you happy. :-) My kids and I took along time picking all the colors. We were thinking of you the whole time!!

  10. This was outstanding! I especially loved my token of cup runneth over, and also the film was so sweet and moving. I am proud of you for sharing your personal story and moved beyond words, too. The words of Psalms are awesome, I can never hear them without some kind of “goose bumps” or teary eyed reception. I will always check back on this post, my future one to rest, relax, find peace and take comfort in the company of my dear friend, Brenda! This was the best awards acceptance post ever! Thank you for my special part (again.) Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend with your talented family!

    • You are lovely! I am feeling a bit like an award glutton, who doesn’t know when to leave the table. But I do so love to share the love. :-) And my kids have such fun helping me make little videos.

  12. AnElephantCant claim any awards
He has a bushel that his light is hid below
    But his thanks do transcend
    Because you are his friend
And he wants to tell you he just loves your video

Sincerely, and not trunk-in-cheek, Brenda, thank you for your kind thoughts and support.
    Hugs

    • I’ll tell my kids that you like the video, and they will be thrilled. :-) No worries on the awards, but I am sad that you are hiding your light. Still, transcendent thanks are more than enough love shared for this happily ever after. Take care, Elephant! Brenda

  13. Brenda, thank you so much for nominating me! I am so honored that you would also include me in your special miracle award. I actually stopped by here earlier and had read this and didn’t realize my name was on here until you stopped by. You’re the best! I’m so glad that I’ve met you :-)

  14. I can’t believe I read this post already and completely missed my name. Perhaps cause I did not think I would be nominated for one. Awwww! Thank you..I’m so honored.:D :D

    • Thanks!! As do you, I hope you saw yourself there. Kids are finally in bed (I hope) and I can get to notifications. Consider yourself notified!! :-)

  15. Well done! I’ll have to dig around to find videos one and two..it’s so cool you made it with your kids thus making them little portfolios of work too. Awesome. This is going up on my list of things to do with Z..:)

    • Cool beans! My sons are both really happy about it. :-) The other videos are also in award postings, so if you click on the award group in the sidebar, you should find them without too much trouble.

  16. I suppose these memories explain why you have found the reality in fairy tales and why there’s so much light in your stories! I completely agree you deserve all these awards! It’s nice to know there are so many fantastic people around!

  17. Well done, Brenda, both on all your awards and on another fab video. Remember when you said you probably wouldn’t do another. Back the in the, well, a few weeks ago! Beautifully done. Many congrats again. x

      • Och, bless. Now you can encourage them with their practice sessions and say, ‘Well, whoever practises most…..’. Many bright sides and bonuses. :)
Funny thing about my memory is I can remember conversations practically verbatim and can’t remember what I had to eat yesterday. That sort of memory. :) x

        • Yes, I also remember conversations, but not necessarily who I had them with!! Most inconvenient a lapse! I take in the dialogue whole cloth, though. :-)

Yes, both boys have been practicing up a storm in order to make the video, but it did delay the award posting by half a week! :-)

        • Thanks! In my cellist’s defense, my violinist had already played it with his orchestra for a year, but water music just seemed like the right piece. :-) And my cellist hadn’t played much all summer. Had to light a fire. :-)
